Heterogeneous Yb3+-Yb2+ mixed valency and unusual Kondo ground state in Yb4As3

چکیده

We present ~~°Yb Môssbauer spectroscopy data in the temperature range o.0455o K and magnetic susceptibility and isothermal magnetisation measurements m trie temperature range o.6-50 K in the heavy fermion compound Yb4As3. The presence of +~ 20% of Yb+~ ions is detected in trie Môssbauer spectra with an applied magnetic field of 7 T, yielding a microscopic proof of the existence of a heterogeneous mixed valence state containing Yb~+
